Truckin'

Bought a new truck recently. Well, not "new", but new to me. It's a 2003 Dodge 1500. I like the ride, but I'm not so sure about the motor. I'm hearing horror stories about the 4.7 V8. I wanted something that got good mileage and would still pull my trailer. Anyone have any advice or comments on the drive train?

  1. When they get older 140-150,000, that engine can lift the head gasket. Pretty easy like if your towing. The gasket set it kind of steep, and the cam/timing chains can be a real pia if your not careful. Chrysler says gotta have special tools. Not true. It takes a while but if your careful you can do it with regular shop tools. We've done about 4 in the past year.
